Valencia city guide
Whether you are coming to Valencia for business or pleasure, you'll
discover that there is so much to do when you are visiting this beautiful city.
The city's history alone would make it an amazing place worth seeing, but
remember that you are also looking at a city with an engaging nightlife that
also acts as a busy commercial center. Take some time and make sure that you
are enjoying everything the city has to offer. It doesn't matter whether your
trip to Valencia is a once in a lifetime visit or if you come ever year; there
will always be something new and engaging to see and to experience.
Remember that Valencia has long been a city that is known for its pristine,
sparkling white beaches; there are more than 2 kilometers of beach
immediately accessible from the city and you'll find that there are plenty of
ways to get there. Lining the natural beach are enormous orange groves, golf
courses and vineyards, reminding you that this part of Spain is among the most
fertile. From the airport, you are only an eight kilometer ride from the beach.
Take a look at La
Malvarrosa and Las Arenas, which are the beaches most
accessible to the city.
If you would like to see a part of Valencia that has been in existence for
hundreds of years, head down to the Old Quarter and visit the Cathedral of
Valencia. It houses the oldest museum in the city and it contains the Holy
Chalice of Valencia. Make sure that you look for the three main doors of the
cathedral, the Puerto de Hierros, which is baroque, the Puerto de los Apostoles
which is gothic and Puerto de Palau , which is Romanesque. You can enter the
Cathedral free of charge, but the a guided tour of both the cathedral and
museum costs 3 Euros while entry to the museum is 1.50 Euros.
There are also many fine restaurants available in Valencia. For instance, take
a look at the critically acclaimed restaurant, Civera. You can find some
excellent Spanish seafood here and the restaurant is tastefully done up in a
nautical theme. When you are interested in something innovative and modern, you
only have to head to LaLola. There you can experience things like codfish with
caramelized saffron and honey or Argentine baby beef loin with watermelon
sorbet, or even ice cream made with virgin olive oil served over a tomato and
olive sauce.
Of course if you would rather cook for yourself, why not head to Mercado
Central, located in the Old Quarter, where you can pick up some delicious fresh
produce. From the thousand or so stalls, you can choose from an enormous
variety of vegetables, very fresh fish and a great selection of chickens, hams
and sausages.
When you are visiting Valencia and want to have the full experience, why not
consider renting an apartment in Valencia? Not only will have you privacy and access to
your own kitchen, you can really feel at home and get to know this city in a
way that few tourists ever do!
